Nathan Laube Organ Concert
Hear guest organist Nathan Laube in concert on the unique surround-sound St. Cecilia organ at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans. A leading performer, pedagogue, and Grammy award-winning artist, Mr. Laube has performed extensively around the globe, and is known for his “masterful” (The Tracker) performances, and for exhibiting playing that was “flawless, inspired, and... transporting.” (Diapason). And the Boston Musical Intelligencer says, "Don't miss him the next time he's in town!" Experience the exquisite artistry of Nathan Laube in concert on the the St. Cecilia organ, complete with 11,964 pipes and restored by Nelson Barden of Boston, is comprised of parts of twenty-seven different E. M. Skinner organs and is the only organ in the world with its particular surround-sound configuration.

Claude Debussy once told an American journalist, “I am called a revolutionary, but I haven’t invented anything. (…) There is nothing new in art.” Professor Marie Rolf, pianist and the leading Debussy scholar of our time, will trace the artistic growth of Debussy from early compositions to his mature works. Encounter some of the most important friends and patrons, fellow composers, writers, visual artists, and aesthetic ideas that shaped Debussy throughout his life. Professor Rolf will play excerpts from several well-loved works by Debussy.

Participants will join the members of the community singing the Liturgy of the Hours in the “acoustical marvel” of the Church of the Transfiguration. Join Chara Percussion on an illuminated journey through the story of Creation! From the dark void of nothingness, through the seven days of creation, experience in new dimensions the glorious creation of Light, the order of times and seasons, the separation of the heavens, the creation of the oceans, all sea creatures, plant life, animals, and finally, mankind. This story will come to life through an immersive theatre setting, with reflective poetry, and featuring works by James Tenney, Philip Glass, Michael Burritt, Alejandro Viñao, and featuring movements from Saint-Saën’s Carnival of the Animals.
String Ensemble in Concert: Works by Hovhaness, Arakelian & Franck
This summer, come in from a balmy summer day to hear the String Ensemble in concert in the “acoustical marvel” (American Record Guide) of the Church of the Transfiguration on Orleans. The program will feature Prayer of Saint Gregory by Alan Hovhaness, Sacred Suite: from Armenian Liturgy, arranged for strings by Grigor Arakelian, and César Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano.

Outer Cape Winds and the Woodland Park Wind Symphony collaborate to host a “Wind Band Retreat,” offering a fantastic opportunity for musicians from these ensembles and from the local community to come together and create beautiful music. The retreat includes band rehearsals, sectionals, and performances led by distinguished guest conductor, Ray Cramer, as well as sightseeing excursions and delicious food!

Join us for a celebratory evening! Appetizers begin at 5 pm followed by a BBQ dinner on the lawn. A spectacular band concert includes patriotic favorites Liberty Fanfare, Symphonic Portrait, Symphonic Overture, Stars & Stripes, America the Beautiful and Hymn to the Fallen. The night ends with premium seating for the Rock Harbor Fireworks!

This Spring, join us for a three-day Gregorian Chant retreat (Tuesday dinner through Friday Breakfast).
